About

My name is Sandra, and this is my book blog.

I am an Oncology Social Worker and freelance book reviewer. I have a voracious appetite for all things book-related, and I absolutely love blogging!

I got my start in book reviewing in 2015, when a former manager started asked if I would be the book columnist for McHenry County Magazine. I wrote the Book Nook column for one year, before deciding to venture off and create my own freelance portfolio. Thus, Reading with Champagne was born!

You may have also seen my work on the Girls Night In Club website. I have also served as a book ambassador for BookSparks, Wunderkind PR, GetRedPR, Suzy Approved Book Tours, and various book publishers. There is no shortage of book love in my world!

I believe that reading is something to be celebrated everyday, and hopefully with a glass of  bubbles! I have met some really amazing people from doing this work, and I hope I can encourage you to read something for yourself, as a part of your celebration of living and daily self-care!

I live with my husband, Andy, and two cats, Bailey and Maggie, in the suburbs of Chicago. When I’m not reading, I can be found advocating for young adults with cancer, watching the Bon Appétit YouTube Channel, and perusing the perfume section of Sephora.

We recently found out that we are expecting a baby boy in July 2019! We couldn’t be happier, and now my book choices are peppered with parenting books and children’s fiction! I can’t wait to explore this new world!

baby bubbles

I believe in kindness. I believe in living life to the fullest. I believe in doing the things you enjoy, and being around people who love and support you.

Why wait for a “special occasion” to sip those bubbles? Just being alive is occasion enough! Reading and keeping life bubbly is a passion of mine, and I look forward to getting to know you!

Note: I am aware that most of the bubbles we drink are not technically “champagne,” but perhaps sometimes prosecco, cava, sparkling wine…so let’s just call the blog name “poetic license.” 🙂

Disclosure: I list where my books come from in the spirit of transparency- the library, whether I bought it myself, or received it gifted from a publisher. I believe in this kind of honesty, and hey, it’s a Federal Trade Commission standard!

Please trust that I will write whether I would recommend a book I’ve read, regardless of its source- be it to a total stranger, or my best friend. All opinion are my own!
